twee Kerstboomen

There's not a whole lot of red in a [public] Dutch Kerstmis, lots of blue and gold:

I wanted to see if I could catch the reflection on the side wall and it mostly worked out okay.

Late afternoon with all the "balcony" lights on, another take on lights descending downward toward us.

I've figured out that I'm all heet ["hot"] for Kerstboomen this year because there were none in my life for the past three Christmases [oppressive family reasons] and it's great to have them again --- the celebration of the spirit is what matters, not the falling needles <3

Not to mention the lights :)

Unbelieveable that I've posted 3x here in a single day. Amazing how vrij time will encourage me!

What I'm doing is :: :: trying not to get splooshed by trams, taxis, cars, bikes, motorscooters [all of which seem to be competing to join me on my tiny little patch of sidewalk :O]; finding out that it is going to take weeks for the Dutch to evaluate my USA teaching license [has to be done before I can do any work]; discovering that there are 2,100 Dutch volunteer groups I can go fit myself into for free [they'll teach me cool things to say in Dutch]; and figuring out how to get USD transferred over here from Boston --- this was duck soup in Jerusalem last August, took ten minutes max [they worked through Tel-Aviv instantly]. Here no bank wants to talk to me at all. But the Office For Wandering Foreign Travelers And Homeless Orphans seems to adore me. Maybe it's my Obama cap I wear all the time ;)

So: life is full of challenges.

I can be here 90 days on my USA passport. The 91st day is when the merde hits the fanne. On that day I'm instantly illegal if I have not applied to enter myself into the Dutch National Database, gotten a nonresident permit, gotten a work permit, bought my wooden shoes and started carrying a tulip in my teeth.

[Just kidding about the shoes and the flower.]

Today is day eight.....

So in the words of Ms. Meow [posting below], I'm seeing if I will be taught to fly.

That's a nice reflection shot -- you did get it.

And my mind is boggling at the interior of this building. Wow, what exactly is it? In English, please, for those of us who are still catching up on our Dutch. :)

And I like your new icon, it looks like you're planting a birch tree by sticking it straight down into the ground ;)
