Easy to be giving thanks for what experiences I am *not* having on this holiday. Like those in Bombay, Kabul, even Kuwait City atm. Like those of Megan Meier's family. But that's another post.

It's also easy to see that some of the most meaningful ones are right here on this site. And what my life here has spun off into. Only one POV is that on my Friendslist are people in eight or nine countries far beyond my own. Each of you is a blessing. Perhaps only two, Beagley and Twistpeach, were friends irl before Friends here, and also in the same location as me [theatre-related, of course!]; their number has grown.

I think it's cool that I just found out the political and religious refugees --- who first landed on this land, not far from where I'm writing this in Andover --- started out in ships from the harbor of Delft [Delftshaven], which was a very big deal in 17th-Century Holland and in the whole of Europe, much bigger than now. That's where my new 'permanent' address is going to be. I'm going exactly the opposite way from them, much later, and much higher. Into an unknown land. Well, almost.

According to the LJ stats this is the 344th post I've made in just short of 16 months and you guys have commented 1150+ times [well, you really haven't, I guess that counts my replies too.] I told Ki that I was apprehensive of flamewars and there have only been a couple of those, both before and after I started keeping my own LJ, so I guess that's good.

I've gotten a lot of thankyous, and given a lot. I've also been called vicious and not human. At times we have agreed to disagree. Par for the course? :)

My real blessing is that each of you has opened a window or two, or lots, into your own life for me to share --- which I would otherwise have never had. [There comes the eight-country thing again and the 'into an unknown land' thing.]

In whatever ways you'd like to define it, I've been able to share / help / grieve with / encourage you, in the ways that are your choices. And this runs both ways, you reflect these right back to me. Usually, often :P

On my desk right now is the first of my 'Santa's elf' gifts waiting to be mailed. That whole idea makes me *** very *** happy.

For some of you today is not a holiday at all. For some, it will be anything but a Happy thanksgiving. Your presences are strong.

Blessings be.

And may your special comforts be, too. Friends in whatever shapes and forms and countries.

May each of us find the hope she needs and the changing life we crave.

you are a gift.
i echo you and in a real way today. your sound not just bouncing off me, but me singing it back. thank you for that - your words and light and heart.

i don't often get around to coming to livejournal, especially lately, and reading your post now reminds me that there is at least one reason to take the time... your posts (whether sorrowful or full of joy) always help me to find a little shine, where hearts still glow despite the world and where hope is still a word that exists.

sending you love... and chocolate covered pretzels and pretzel covered muffins.

I appreciate you for remembering me, Brad. That does make living through this hellish holiday a little easier to bear.

I am thankful for you as well. :)
