I don't think of myself as a violin and probably Meowvatar does not either. Ki first wrote this tapestry phrase in a poem of hers; Pachelbel scored his Canon in D for continuo too. Kiota played the piano version 'thousands of times.'

A continuo is a musical instrument. Relates to 'continue'. And we do. On a lot of levels.

But all three violins there were. Right there. Right now.

Amy is just simply awesome. She is, she is. That word is overused, but it fits perfectly. We spent about four hours together last evening, totally engaged. Kiota showed up for awhile too and brought us messages to share... Amy and I sang a song at one point in the car back to my hotel. She has a wonderful voice. To go with her very special heart.

It was that kind of evening. Hard to wrap words around it. We are totally delighted with each other.

We took pictures: both of us brought our Canons. We corralled Alex, this very cool store clerk, and she offered to take our picture in front of Barack Obama [who was not actually there except for cardboard.] You will get to see us. Maybe she already posted them. We do have some kind of a pic processing session set up before I leave next week, so perhaps she can teach me some LJ basics about posting them while I'm here.

Amy and I talked about Ki, of course, because she's the reason we were engaging. But we talked about lots more also. Her family, my family, her dreams, my dreams, her personal life, my personal life .... we laughed ourselves silly at some times, and got really serious at others. We were like two old friends who had not seen each other for a long time. Except that we had never once met F 2 F before. Imagine. And in the middle of all this, here we found belly dancers putting on a sidewalk show with live music. More awesomeness.

We went to this delicious bar + grill place on Pearl Street in Boulder, BJ's, and had pizza. Of course she finished her half first because Brad loves to talk more than eat pizza, even with Amy glowing right there. She poked at me to keep on eating, side benefit was that she could get a word in here and there. Total excitement.

She makes and wears her own jewelry. She wore a big cloak she had crocheted out of thick deep electric blue yarn. Another perfect tapestry. She gave me one of her husband's old sweaters to wear in case I got cold ["This is for you to keep, I don't think he even knows he has it."] "He doesn't wear sweaters anyway."

Cold? Me? Maybe later!! [I was all 'Awwwwwwwww...' over that.]

We'd walk around and sit on a wall or bench when we needed to be face-to-face with each other for some convo more serious. We just seemed to know when that was. I knew when to shut up so she could ask questions or talk. Total entrancing-time.

I don't know why I'm supposed to be deserving of all these gifts but they keep on coming.

She was laughing to her husband and family that, "Look, look! Brad is just like meeeee!!"

Took the words right out of my mouth in reverse, too. When it wasn't full of pizza or harmony notes with each other.

And the topper is that this weekend is Homecoming for the University of Colorado. The football field is only a short walk from my old grad student office, and the other team was the Univ of Texas. Both these schools are the very two I identify with the most [see Profile.] Colorado lost because Texas is awesome. But not as awesome as we are.

I did not know anything about this being Homecoming weekend before I got out here. At least, not *that* kind of Homecoming. So. Big coincidence. Or not.

There are homecoming weekends and there are HOMEcomings lol

So I got all full of new voltage over all this. I'm not being asked one word about how I'm going to handle it. First, of course, is sharing our evening with all of you. Next, well, uhmmmm .... unwrap gifts carefully? lmao

Except these have no wrapping paper. Beyond the music. And the three violins.

And the continuo.

Yes. This is how it was and is. You said it so well. I really couldn't work up the courage to be quite so descriptive, so my entry is much more brief. Some things, also, I prefer to hide in my heart.

I loved this. It gave me shivers and warm good feelings in my heart. Thank you...for everything!!!!!

Here's the picture he was talking about.

Now you have made me SOOOO famous. Your personal mints and Barack too. When he's President let's show him this photo and make him give us Ambassadorships to Holland and Estonia and Palestine and great places like that.

My scarf, btw, is from India by way of one of the open-air markets in Jerusalem Old City. The colors are quite deep and rich: maroons and deep greys ....
