kiota and her privacies

I'm in the middle of some exciting things at United Planet.
Their International Director is arranging something great in the orphanage building Ki would have been volunteering in next month.

Some of the expense money for her trip is going to be used to build out a private room. With a door. What's there now is a rug over a pole. Any orphan girl housed there has no privacy to talk in a counseling coversation and doesn't feel very much security.

That will change.

Ki was always very careful to wrap a cloak of secure privacy around us when I was out there. We'd either go to an isolated part of campus to talk or, more often, she'd scoot me into her tiny room and close the door. In that rare time when all her roomies were out, we'd spread into the rest of the apartment. But, alone and paired, together with one another. All the time I felt I was bringing you too. Yeah, in the background maybe, but there.

When the room in Cambodia is ready they will mount a small plaque in her memory near the door.

I am sending a bit of money today, to help in this door effort too.

So Anna gets to go to Cambodia after all. I do too.

There will be light outside the door, yes, even probably a crack of light under the bottom of it too. But it won't be scary like that.... there will be a lot of light INside the room, inside the door as well. Anna's voice will be heard in that room and her love will be felt. By girls who really, really need her. And that is a lot of them.

As her love is felt right now, as I write this and as you read.

Blessings Be.

Wow. Thanks, Mex. Not why I posted, but glad to tell everyone.

Check or money order [they'd take cash too, of course] and put this on the memo line or on a separate page: ANNA ROSENFELD CAMBODIA MEMORIAL.

Address is: Ms. Theresa Higgs, Director of International Programs, United Planet, 11 Arlington Street, Boston MA 02116 USA.

Putting Anna's name on there should be quite enough, but if you're writing a cover note you can also include mine as another ref if you wish: Brad Butler.

They'll want to give you a tax-exempt certificate if you're interested, should you want to take a tax deduction for your donation. Not sure how this would work internationally, but United Planet is a tax-exempt charitable / educational organization under Section 501 (C) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code in the US. You could always ask Theresa if you wish.

And here's their site: http://www.unitedplanet.org

It will have their phone and fax numbers for you, FYI.

The specific name of Anna's program is Cambodia Quest and it starts June 29. They have lots of other deals going on in other countries, you'll see.

Thank you a lot for asking.

i SO wish she could have made it there, i sent her photos from my trip there, of the kids i met... i think it would have really changed her life.

I'm glad that she gets to go in 'some way' now.
Thankyou for that.

OMG limelime, did you go in the same program too? or was it just informal, by yourself?

I think I remember when you sent those photos, too... the program sounds so excellent, we laughed aloud about how --- if she decided to stay over there for a year --- , could she Email papers and essays back to her school? The way she never got offline from *anyone* in need, you can just imagine what the pull on her would have been. She would have tried to adopt everybody over there in the orphanage on the spot. Also, she would have tried her best to get all of her friends to emigrate over there to help her be a parent :) :)
