myrrhine venus

night after night
beached mer mammal,
kin to seal and dolphin,
she lies on her belly
and cries to the sea:

oh cover me, cover me,
my element, my delight:
why do you never
kiss me under this moon?

i do not walk on knives
for an alien peacock;
my pearly tail writhes
and craves my salt love.
i carry my large creature,
i carry my load of desire:
unburden me of my sorrow?

my full breasts
press into the sand,
i heave and squirm, i am wet,
but my heart is parched.
i am ache, i am empty,
lying in this shrinking tidepool,
will you not fill me?

the wavecrests foam,
i hear her coming,
her strength, her eagerness:
o reach me quickly,
do not abandon me
on this moonbleached beach.
dissolve me, merge me to you,
irresistible myrrhine Venus,
capture me, supple and light,
so may i exult, somersault
in the undertow of your arms,
now
take me now and forever ...

.............

and i would be the moon
spoken over your beckoning flesh
breaking against reservations
beaching thought
my hands in your high tide
over
under
and inside you
foaming in the passing of hungers attended,
hungers forgotten.

darkly risen
the moon speaks my eyes
judging all your roundnesses
filled with delights ...
