commemorating April 30, 1989

Tomorrow is Kiota's 23rd birthday.

It seems awkward to frame the words to count in that way, although inadequate measures are the only ones we have. Since some of us all too well remember that she never was able to celebrate her nineteenth.

What's important is that she now shares a timeless absence of fear and despair, and the blessings of peace and rest for eternity. She now shares in that, and continually.

In 1989 there was a great amount of joy and eagerness for her future in her family. She was the firstborn, as I also was in my own family.

While she was here physically with us, she left many of us the gifts of her deep compassion and caring; my hope is that we can still remember those with warmth, just as we do her writing and her artworks. Which you can still visit on her memorial website under her own userID.

Light is permanent, it shifts into many forms; who is remembered, lives in light. In our hearts. Everywhere, really...

Blessings and rest uncountable. And, that includes memories also.

In a very filled silence her songs go on.

I really miss her too. It's hard to come back here knowing that she's not here. It doesn't seem to get any easier either.

today, as mentions of suicide prevention day blow up twitter, of course Anna is the only one in mind for me as I painstakingly paint the word Love on my wrist. I wonder if she ever realized how many lives she truly touched in her short time here.

I'm sure that there were far more than she ever knew, because her words and compassion were spreading far beyond those whom she counseled and loved directly, even during those few years. And you're right that her physical time here was cruelly short.... but many things about her hopes for us are endless, really. Like the things your wrist painting means, and the connections you and a lot of us make all the time... wrist painting is a lovely idea btw <3

"Anna is the only one in mind..." Really.
