Boulderado series / 1

There's this big hotel in downtown Boulder named The Hotel Boulderado, combination of the city and state. The facade is a city block long. The elevator in the main building is the original from 1909 [with some new parts.] The hotel, ballrooms, guest rooms, dining rooms, and horse and buggy parking was built in 1907 - 08 and opened the next year, and has since expanded. A lot of the architecture is preserved, in fact the hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Next year is their 100th birthday and they are already planning for me to come back. Maybe I can apply my frequent flyer miles :)

When I first moved out to Colorado for work, then school, I lived here for a week or so. It's very vast. They built it because they wanted to compete with Denver, 35 miles down the road.

This view is from the main floor looking up through the original stained glass skylight. That's cherrywood molding and glass framework and cherrywood staircases and paneling.. There's a dark rich feeling you get that might not show through very well in the pics: that's why you should go there!

Brad, that's a GORGEOUS picture of the Boulderado! Lovely perspective. I remember being so impressed with it when I walked in -- it has a lovely, dark, rich, aged cognac feeling to it, lots of history and money and stuff.
