dreaming in light

There is a lovely and amazing collection of humanoids across the street, in the lobby floor of an apartment building. They have no arms nor faces, one pod for legs, and they stand on circles:

Their bodies are made out of stacks of wire circles enclosed by rice paper, like Chinese lanterns. BIGGGGG Chinese lanterns. And they all have inner glow, unless their power converters have failed or gotten switched off:

And I was entranced by the color variety: faded rose pink, faded lime green, orange, lemon and frost in the same body of one girl. Two of them reflect the ambient light from the others who are glowing:

And they are all standing behind picture windows. So the traffic reflects its headlights and it looks like some of the lights are passing right through the bodies:

I thought of the eyes of bats coming on to visit the crowd, but the eyes would have to be ... red? ... not white or amber.

There's a slight variation in the shapes of the bodies: I'm assuming the ones with the curvier legs and butts are female, but possibly not? Maybe the idea is that they're sexless, or the idea is that you have to look very carefully...

Some of the bodies can be seen on the floor, and the poles they are mounted on are wired with the lamp sockets. There's one stack of blue lamps like this. A couple of technicians were "building" the exhibit.

I think this is a powerful statement by whoever dreamed this up in light. And chose the colors in the lamps to be the way they are. And that there's no difference, very much, in the bodies. There aren't any plans to "dress" the paper mannequins in any kind of clothing or costumes. You can't tell if you're being observed by them since they are facing you, or if you are looking at their backs.

Lots of metaphors here, layers of meaning in something looking really simple at first glance.

What matters are the lights inside them. Shining brightly, shining less brightly.

During the day all the lights are switched off, so they all just stand there grey and mute. So they are all the same "color", or lack of it... actually their bodies reflect the sun and then the twilight before their own come on.

But at night it's a whole different story. Or collections of stories.

As it is with many of us... and our dreams.

Blessings Be.

"Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter."

I wonder what we would look like to such people.

I hope they would see some kind of light or lights inside us that would echo their own! :)

And otherwise we would probably look hopelessly complicated. All those organs? Really necessary??
